MECHANIC: BRIAN KRANZ
RIDER: ELI TOMAC
TEAM: MONSTER ENERGY KAWASAKI
WAS IT A BIG CHANGE GOING FROM HONDA
TO KAWASAKI? It wasn’t that big of an adjustment.
Obviously, we were both with Honda for a long time,
but everyone welcomed us with open arms at Kawasaki.
Deciding to make the move with Eli was somewhat hard.
On one hand, it would have been hard to leave Eli. He’s
one of the best riders in the world. At the same time I
had to do what was best for me. I need to make sure
that my family is taken care of. We were able to work
out all the details and make a deal happen.
WHEN DID TOMAC START RIDING THE
KAWASAKI? Eli started riding the bike after Monster
Cup. He had a little over two months to get prepared for
Supercross. He rode a few weeks of outdoors in order to
get used to the new bike. Once he felt comfortable, I flew
out to Colorado and we did Supercross testing. We figured out a base setup so that he could burn laps around
the Supercross track at his place.
IS ELI PARTICULAR ABOUT ANY THING? Eli is
really sensitive to front-end feel. Getting the front end
dialed in is our number-one priority. He likes to chopper
the bike out and have a stinkbug-style setup. Once he’s
comfortable, then we make any necessary adjustments
