WHAT STANDS OUT? Here’s a list of things that stand out with the Full Bore M- 37 intermediate rear tire. (1) Weight. As soon as the MXA wrecking crew picked up the Full Bore, we knew the tire was heavy, and our scale confirmed it. It was a whopping 2-1/2 pounds heavier than its rival, the Dunlop MX51. We determined that the added heft of the Full Bore was caused by the stiff sidewall and additional rubber. Weight aside, we were interested in testing the M- 37 because the rubber compound felt grippy, and stiff sidewalls are often a plus. ( 2) Mounting. Even with the stiff sidewall, mounting the tire was relatively painless. We suggest setting the tire out in the sun for 10 minutes so that the rubber heats up and is more pliable. ( 3) Performance. Due to the Full Bore’s extra weight, the MXA test riders didn’t expect much in the performance category. We were wrong. Yes, we did notice the added heft, but we could live with it. The M- 37 was predictable and confidence-inspiring. It worked well in intermediate conditions, but excelled on the
hardpack fringe of intermediate dirt. It was easy to get the power to the ground, and it tracked in a straight line. When setting up for a corner, whether we were standing up, leaning or on the brakes, we never felt the Full Bore step out, and knob roll-over was minimal. The Full Bore worked really well on concrete starts and had excellent straight-line hook-up. ( 4) Durability. The M- 37 is designed for performance over durability. If used primarily in intermediate terrain, however, the Full Bore will last a long time. The M- 37 held up just as long as a Dunlop MX51. The M- 37 did wear more quickly when run on hardpack, though. ( 5) Value. The Full Bore is a good intermediate rear tire at a very competitive price. The M- 37 rear is available in 110/100-18, 110/80-19, 110/90-19 and 120/80-19 sizes.
WHAT’S THE SQUAWK? If the Full Bore M- 37 went on a Jenny Craig diet, it could be considered a premium tire.
The Full Bore M- 37 is a good tire at a great price. Unlike most low-cost tires, these were deemed race-worthy by most of the MXA test riders.
