Wheelie King: Supercross needs
Doug Domokos now more than ever.
WHERE IS THE WHEELIE KING? Dear MXA, I hadn’t been to a Supercross in years, and I was telling the people around me in the stands about the Wheelie King. They had never heard of him. Where is the Wheelie King? Doug Domokos, who thrilled Supercross fans in the 1980s, tragically died on November 26, 2000, in an ultralight airplane crash near Lake Elsinore, California.
Ti pipes: Light, but fragile.
IS TITANIUM ALWAYS BETTER? Dear MXA, Is there any technical advantage to a titanium head pipe over a stainless steel head pipe—other than weight? No, just the opposite. A titanium head pipe is lighter, usually between 1 and 2 ounces lighter; but in our experience, titanium head pipes are more prone to rock damage than stainless pipes. Why? Most stainless head pipes have a 1.0mm-wall thickness, while titanium head pipes use a thinner, 0.8mm-wall thickness. The thinner material dents more easily, especially when heated to an almost annealed state. ; facebook.com/sunstarea I twitter.com/sunstarea I firstname.lastname@example.org I sunstar-mc.com
