Malcolm Stewart ( 34) pinballed into Trey Canard ( 41),
who sent James Stewart careening off course. In the end,
Malcolm’s move didn’t hurt Trey, but it cost James any
chance of getting a good start.
After finishing third behind Grant and Roczen in moto
one, Ryan Dungey stalked leader Ken Roczen for 30
minutes, plus 1-5/8th laps. Then he made his move to
take the 450 win from his KTM teammate.
With two laps to go in the second 250 moto, Dean
Wilson crashed on the big downhill. In the melee
his footpeg cut a six-inch gash in the back of his
leg that required stitches.
Yamaha hasn’t won a 250 National in ten years, but at
Glen Helen they not only won, but Cooper Webb ( 37)
finished second for a 1-2 sweep of both motos behind
teammate Jeremy Martin.
