“Ishot an arrow into the air, it fell to earth, I knew not where.” Cute. We all learned Henry Wadsworth Longfellow’s poem back in grade school but never realized that it applied to motocross in any way. That is, until the
first time we launched our bikes off a big double with no idea of what was going
to happen. As it turns out, a motocross bike can be controlled in flight. In this
issue, the MXA moto-physicists will explain why tapping the rear brake lowers the
front wheel and twisting the throttle raises it as you shoot through the air.
