THE LAND OF NEW OLD STOCK
I ride a 2012 YZ450F with the DR.D
handling mods and like the way it
handles. I mapped it to the MXA-
recommended soft power mapping
and really like the way it runs. Can I
soften the low-end power of the 2014
similar to the soft mapping of the 12?
I can get a new 2012 for $2000 less
than a 2014 and don’t have the
luxury of trying out a 2014.
Where do you live that you can
walk into a dealership and buy
brand-new 2012 and 2014 Yamaha
YZ450Fs? To answer your question,
the 2014 Yamaha YZ450F is much
better than the 2010 to 2013 versions.
Every part of the 2014 model has
been changed from the 2012 YZ450F.
Additionally, you can remap the 2014
YZ450F with the GYTR Power Tuner.
We have developed a very good map
for this bike. The map is available
by googling “MXA 2014 Yamaha

Do you know what modifica-
tions would have to be made to my
2004 Suzuki RM125 in order to run
Pro Circuit’s lowering linkage arm
that is made for the 2005-and-up
RM125 models? Is this modifica-
tion possible, and how beneficial
is it for my specific bike?
The best modification you can
make to your 2004 Suzuki RM125 is
to treat it to new rubber, new clutch
plates and a new piston every now
and then. You don’t need some
jerry-rigged shock linkage. Pro
Circuit didn’t make a linkage arm for
the 2004 RM125 because they didn’t
think it needed it.
EVEN IF THEY DID…
I know that James Stewart got
busted by WADA for amphetamines,
but are there any factory riders on
steroids? Does WADA test for
steroids? Why have no factory
riders ever been caught in a drug

I loved the article on the 1971
DKW 125 in the November issue
and thought you would like to see
what a DKW racer would have
used back in the day to haul his
bike around in. This 1962 DKW
Schnellaster, which translates
as “Rapid Transporter,” used a
three-cylinder, 900cc, two-stroke,
front-wheel-drive engine. This
restored model is currently in Audi’s
museum in Ingolstadt, Germany.
