PROPER HELMET CARE
STEP 1 If your helmet has removable pads, carefully remove the padding. Place the cheek pads and helmet liner in a washing net and throw it in the washing machine on gentle cycle. Use regular detergent, but do not use bleach. If the padding is not removable, wait until Step 4 to clean the liner.
STEP 2 Remove the visor using the appropriate tool, but don’t lose the backing washers on the visor screws. Run the visor under warm water to knock off excess dirt. We recommend using a damp microfiber cloth to wipe the visor clean.
STEP 3 Soak a paper towel or microfiber cloth with warm water, and use it to gently remove any dirt from the helmet shell. Use a toothbrush to clean any crevices or hard-to-reach places, such as vent ports, then dry the shell with a fresh microfiber cloth. Apply a modest amount of helmet wax, but avoid using any cleaning agents on chrome-coated plastic (e.g., visor, screws, vent ports and/or mouthpiece).
STEP 4 If the helmet liner is not removable, then it will be more difficult to clean the padding. Dampen a clean cloth, and apply a modest amount of a neutral cleaning agent to the cloth. Gently rub the padding with the cloth. Be thorough, ensuring that all areas of the liner have been cleaned.
STEP 5 Be careful when cleaning the EPS foam liner, as it can be damaged by cleaning solvents and heat. Gently wipe the foam with a damp cloth, then place the helmet on a rack or hang it out of direct sunlight and in front of a fan to dry. Otherwise, the wet liner could mildew. If the liner was washed in the washing machine, remove it and let it air-dry (do not use a dryer).
STEP 6 Reinstall the liner and visor once the helmet and liner have dried. We recom- mend cleaning the exterior of the helmet after every ride day and the interior when necessary (but before the odor kills flies). Finally, always use a helmet bag when transporting your lid. ;
