SHE LEFT THE ROAD AT 90 Dear MXA, I couldn’t agree more with the need to change the rule about where a rider can reenter the track after leaving it. I’ve seen big-name riders run next to the track for a full straight before even attempting to reenter. The AMA should take positions away from riders who do not make a valid attempt to rejoin the race close to where they left the track. Gregory Nedessen via motocrossactionmag.com
RETRO MUSTANGS Dear MXA, Is there a chance us boomers, who buy the new retro Mustangs, Chargers and Challengers, will ever see Honda make a 305 Scrambler again, DT1 Yamaha or a first-year KX500? It works for cars, why not for bikes? Arlo Girving via motocrossactionmag.com There is zero chance that the manufacturers will make modern versions of old bikes, but a 100% chance that the Chinese will.
LIVES OF FIVE MOTO WIVES Dear MXA, “Lives of the Moto Wives” was a nice addition [April 2013]. Of the four wives you profiled, I’ve had the honor of meeting Nancy Smith and Lori Lackey—two of the nicest MX people you could meet. I, too, am very lucky to have a moto wife of 32 years. Thanks for a great magazine! Edward Frank Pauma Valley, California
WILL THE REAL AMA PLEASE STAND UP? Dear MXA, My friend says that the AMA does not have anything to do with AMA Supercross or the AMA Nationals. Is this true? How can they be called AMA races if they aren’t AMA? Joel Erikssen via motocrossactionmag.com Your friend is both right and wrong. The original AMA sold the rights to motocross, road race, dirt
WYMAN PRIDDY Dear MXA, In the April 2013 issue, I don’t think that’s Wyman Priddy on page 220. That number 65 looks like a Husky, and I can’t remember Wyman riding a Husky. Mike Partain via motocrossactionmag.com You are correct. Before becoming a Kawasaki rider, Wyman raced a CZ, not a Husky. In retrospect, we don’t know who number 65 is. The lives of the wives.
Who is 65?
