WHAT STANDS OUT? Here’s a list of things that stand
out with the Fly Racing Lite Hydrogen gear.
(1) Jersey. The Lite Hydrogen jersey is minimalist. It
has mesh ventilation panels integrated into the jersey for
breathability. The low-profile, multi-directional mesh collar
is very comfortable. The cuffs of the jersey are made with
a soft mesh material and are elastic, making restriction to
the arms minimal. The arm construction is not an athletic
fit like some brands but is roomy. This make for a baggy
fit for skinny riders. There is a tail on the jersey to
ensure it stays tucked in when riding.
( 2) Pant. At under 1.7 pounds, the Hydrogen pants
are very light. All the graphics are sublimated, so there
are no bulky rubber logos. The pants are 90 percent
stretch-panel construction using an all-new material. This
gives the rider maximum comfort and allows the pant
to move with his body. The Hydrogen pant has Fly’s 2D
buckle system. The 2D system gives the rider about 3
inches of adjustment to the waistband. We would also
like to note that the sizing ran big. Our size- 32 pants fit
more like 34s would. We did like that the pants had
pre-shaped knees that accommodated the contours of our
knee braces. There is also a strategically placed mesh
liner that is located in the rear seat area that helps keep
you cool and comfortable. The leather heat-shield panels
are located on the inside of each leg for durability and
( 3) Glove. The MXA wrecking crew raved about the
Hydrogen glove. It is lightweight, functional and forms
to the rider’s hand. We would give this glove five stars if
( 4) Fit. The pants had an athletic fit and lots of stretch
panels to make them form to the body. The jersey fit
well, but our testers thought the arms were a bit baggy
for their liking.
( 5) Durability. The entire kit stayed together well.
On the pants there is a small inelastic panel at the
bottom of the legs that seemed to fray rather fast.
( 6) Options. There are five different colorways for the
Lite Hydrogen line. The jersey comes in sizes small to
extra large, and the pants are offered in sizes 28 to 48.
WHAT’S THE SQUAWK? We have three minor
quibbles: (1) The arms of the jersey are baggy, but we
liked the minimal cuffs. ( 2) An inelastic panel on the
bottom of the legs showed wear. ( 3) A size- 32 pant fit
more like a 34.
The Lite Hydrogen line has a light, minimalist
and comfortable feel. If you’re looking for
comfort, this is the gear for you.
