THE LEGEND OF LAROCCO’S LEAP
“That jump has been here over half the life of the racetrack, and we’ve been here a long
time,” says Red Bud’s Tim Ritchie, who built the jump that Mike LaRocco would become
the first person to leap, thus the name.
“I got to practice during the week with the fence down. I was kind of driven to jump
it because my friends were telling me that I couldn’t do it,” LaRocco explains. “Big jumps
were kind of my thing back then. Now, 20 years down the road, it’s cool to have my name
